An Indonesian Adventure
Selamat Pagi & Halo from Indonesia. My most recent trip took me on the Wanua Adventure from Lombok to Flores on a 4 day boat trip. Because I don’t have the best constitution for sea travel, I left Australia armed with my Kwells but I was pleasantly surprised at how calm the trip was (and I didn’t take any anti-nausea tablets the entire boat trip, I promise!).
First stop: Kenawa Island
Two boats left port bound for Flores each with 25 - 30 passengers. I booked a cabin because I wasn’t sure how well my sea legs would go (and I prefer to suffer privately when it comes to bodily fluids) but the upper deck space which housed everyone on mats would’ve been just as fun (if not a little squishier). If you’re cheap and not prone to motion sickness …or social anxiety, I’d go with the mats.
The crew was absolutely fantastic and the itinerary was really well spread out with the boat continuing to the next destination most nights while everyone was sleeping (which definitely helped with the nausea). I had the best time (even with an enclave of French tourists on the same boat, so that’s saying something). It also helped that the food was delicious, because.. well.. food (oui! cordon bleu!).
If you’re up for a bit of adventure which doesn’t include all the bells and whistles but has a great authenticity to it, get on it.
